Brandy to headline House of R&B concert in Lagos this December

American Grammy-winning singer Brandy Norwood is set to headline the House of R&B concert in Lagos on December 20 as the city prepares for the annual Detty December festivities.

The concert will take place at the Eko Convention Centre and open a series of entertainment events scheduled for the festive season.

The House of R&B will be followed by Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged on December 21, Flytime Fest from December 22 to 24, and Flytime Circle on December 25.

Brandy, popularly known as The Vocal Bible, is recognised for her contributions to contemporary R&B music, with her vocal style and catalogue influencing several artists across the genre.

Speaking ahead of the event, Flytime founder and Chief Executive Officer, Cecil Hammond, described Brandy as one of R&B’s influential voices and said her performance would kick off the company’s December entertainment programme.

Flytime Chief Operating Officer, Keke Hammond, also disclosed that the December lineup would feature six nights of entertainment, with each event offering a distinct experience.

Before arriving in Lagos, Brandy is scheduled to perform in South Africa, with concerts planned for Cape Town on December 14 and Pretoria on December 17 and 18.

The singer has also had an eventful year, collaborating with artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani and Josh Levi. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and released her memoir, PHASES, which became a New York Times bestseller.

Her scheduled Lagos appearance adds to the list of international music acts expected in Nigeria during Detty December, a festive period marked by concerts and entertainment events that attract audiences from within and outside the country.
